New Carpet - November 2017

We were planning and saving to replace our carpet and then we had the forced opportunity to replace our heater/air conditioner. So our plans were waylaid.  Then, Peter had the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in South Texas helping with Hurricane Harvey as part of the Task Force 2 Team.  We welcomed the overtime pay that came with it.  We were then able to replace the carpet! Yeah! It was 19 years old and the original construction grade light colored carpet.  Our family of 7 has put it to the test and it was time to go.
We quickly realized that replacing the carpet for the entire upstairs means you have to move everything and is much like if you were moving out of your house. The kids helped empty the playroom and sort of just dumped things in the dining room. And then the downstairs became the playroom for several days and so there were toys everywhere!
We also decided that it was time to finally paint our master bedroom. The idea came up the Saturday before we were to get the carpet and within 2 hours of discussing we had the paint picked out and bought. Peter even painted the first 2 walls while I was at work that night. We love the color. It helps to have a dad that knows so much about picking out good paint colors from decades of painting experience.

We packed the bigger furniture and some of the boxes into different rooms as the carpet was being laid in the first few rooms. Then we quickly moved the furniture to the newly carpeted rooms so the others could be carpeted. It was a long day. It was amazing to watch the carpet layers.

The final product- we had a patterned carpet laid in the hall, landing, and on the stairs.  We did a longer carpet in the bedrooms to give it a very comfortable feel. In fact, it is so plush that it kept turning the roller off on our vacuum.  So, we ended up with a new vacuum as well so that we could actually take care of this lovely new investment.
