Tuesday was our last day in Tennessee but the others were going to spend the rest of the week there. Peter had to get home for work.
We headed out in the morning and went to the Tennessee State Museum.
Hands down the best free Museum I have ever been to. It had so much to see.
There were really great kid friendly interactive stations throughout the museum. It was a great way of making the history come alive for the kids.
Peter had the camera for a good part of the museum and we ended up spread out through several rooms and so the pictures were hit and miss. If you are in Nashville, I would totally recommend it.
We picnicked near the capital building and then headed to the Bicentennial State Park.
So much FUN!
We knew there was water so we took dry clothes and a few towels. It was an overcast day but the humidity made it feel warm so getting wet was enticing.
I loved watching all of the kids and the varied approaches/personalities with the water.
Sophie was all about getting wet; Lyra not as much. Some dove right in, some started with feet and hands and moved up to getting their whole bodies wet. The adults got wet too just not as wet!
Finally, we walked down to see the carillon bells at the other end of the park. We heard them ring and it was beautiful. That is the capital building behind us up on the hill.
There was a really neat wall on the one side of the park that recorded the history of the state in 10 year increments. It was a delightful day with family!
