There is a tradition at Valley Ridge where the 5th graders do a self portrait where their hats represent what they want to become when they grow up.

Arabella Second Grade Program
Arabella's second grade program was a great performance.
There was a really fun outer space theme and she loved that they played the Star Wars theme song at the end while they were waving glow sticks!
Oh how I love this girl! She is so sweet and kind. She is happy and talented. She makes friends easily and has a great attention for details. I can not wait to see how she continues to learn, grow and where she will go in this life!
Spring Carnival
Lily's preschool does a spring carnival each year.
It is the big fundraiser for the year.
There are simple games, food, auction baskets, and performances by the kids.
She is the cutest thing!
We all had a fun time and Lily sang great!
Music Festival
We love the music program at Valley Ridge Elementary!
Mr. Rosales does a great job and finds great music.
Another elementary in our area hosted a music festival and the choir and Jagspiel were invited to participate. They played so well, even though several students were missing due to it being on a Saturday.
Afterwards we moved into the gym where there were several different rhythm activities. They had a bunch of different instruments you could play (families too). They did several different dances with different patterns and purposes.
We all had a great time!
I hope they continue to do this and that Arabella will be in choir so we can attend again.
Field Trip to the Arboretum
Lily's preschool class went on a lot of field trips- at least one per month.
Her last one was to the Dallas Arboretum.
The flowers were gorgeous as were the little girls!
These roses smelled so delicious!
Everyone loves to splash in the water!
Oh the fun in a wind booth.
I loved my time with Lily this year, seeing her grow and learn and navigate new relationships.
She is going to do great in kindergarten and I hope she continues to gain confidence in herself and her abilities, while still always working hard and being kind to others.
I do hope her boy craziness is tamed just a bit!
Peter the Candidate
Peter ran for the school board.
When he first said he was going to do it, I thought he was just entertaining the idea of doing it. But, a few days later he came home and said he had dropped off his candidate application- he was serious.
We did not do any campaigning and we really should have. With about 2 weeks to go, I was really wishing we had done something.
He lost, by quite a bit and the incumbent won.
He really did not want the new $700 million bond to pass and it did too. He spoke out against the bond every chance he had to speak- news articles, debates, meet and greets.
I really was so very proud of him.
Maybe we will try again and hope for a different result and make some signs and fliers.
Fort Worth Water Gardens
The kids had a day off from school back in April and we decided to head to the Fort Worth Water Gardens. It was so beautiful!
It was an overcast day and we had a few light sprinkles towards the end but it was a fun new adventure.
I liked this selfie and how we were all in it, even Joseph. He is scowling though because he thought he was being left out.
This girl and her ability to strike a pose- she is a little model/diva.
